Odysseus Data Services was formed to apply our many years of algorithm development, software engineering and outsourcing experience to focus on health data analytics. This growing field is characterized by high complexity in the business players, the data and the analytical methods needed to generate insights and evidence for our clients. It requires skilled data science, software application development, statistics, database development and ontology and vocabulary management to come together.
We also believe in the power of Public Domain and Open Source development. No single player in the field has sufficient know-how to generate the right solutions. In fact, healthcare is only on the verge of comprehensive digitization and data-driven decision making, and many hard problems it is facing are still in active research and development. We therefore actively participate in OHDSI, an open scientific collaborative to develop solutions for large-scale analytics of health data.
Among other things, we are responsible for the development of Athena, an automated system for creating and maintaining the OMOP Standard Vocabularies. This resource is a fundamental component of the OMOP System, on which all OHDSI activities are based.
We also transform medical patient data to the standard OMOP Common Data Model so it can be used for standardized data characterization and analytics using the OHDSI or commercial platforms. We have extensive experience with EMR and claims data, from the US, Europe and Canada. We also map standard, proprietary and local codes to OMOP Standard Concepts. We do so using a reproducible process resulting in the highest quality of the resulting data and documentation.
We also build web applications around standardized analytics of observational and epidemiological research, such as incidence and prevalence of disease, detection of off-label indication, natural history of disease and disease progression, co-morbidities and co-medications, profiling of providers and payers, cost of treatment, or any other related Real World Evidence.
